Dr. Gardner joined the Gordon faculty in January 2017. She most recently served as Visiting Professor with the Center for the Study of Religion and Society at the University of Notre Dame, where she continues to hold a visiting appointment. She previously served as Associate Professor at Wheaton College, where she received the Junior Faculty Teaching Award. She has also served as a Visiting Professor at Willamette University.

Grace Chiou came to Gordon College in 2015 after completing her Ph.D. at the University of Denver. Her concentration is in cultural theory with a focus on religion and media. Scott Thurman

Assistant Professor of Communication Arts

Scott Thurman, born in Lubbock, TX, earned his M.F.A. in Documentary Film from the University of North Texas. He worked as a news photographer for 4 years and produced 3 short films while at the University of North Texas, including "Smokey," a short documentary about an Elvis impersonator, which was selected by film festivals such as AFI Dallas, L.A. Film Festival, Hot Springs Doc Festival, and Austin Film Festival.
