Overview
The Liberal Arts & Language Immersion in Buenos Aires program offered by Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) is highly recommended for language learners. Designed for students with prior Spanish experience, this semester program combines Spanish-language coursework with liberal arts classes in subjects such as politics, history, economics, and the arts. Students study at the CIEE center and may take courses at local universities while participating in cultural activities and optional internships. The program provides an immersive opportunity to strengthen Spanish skills and gain a deeper understanding of Argentine culture and society.
The program is open to those who do not speak Spanish, however it can be difficult to find courses offered in English. Please connect with the Global Ed Office if you wish to study in Argentina with limited to no knowledge of Spanish.
Academics
Gordon's Department of Language and Linguistic recommends CIEE's Liberal arts & language immersion programs for students minoring in Spanish. Upon arrival, students take a placement exam. Students who place below the advanced level may be required to enroll in an additional language course for advanced or intermediate composition.
In general, students take a minimum of one required Spanish language course and four elective courses. These electives can include CIEE courses, regular university courses, and any offered. Students eligible to do so must take one regular university course.
If you are interested in applying to study in Argentina as a non-Soanish speaker, please email the Global Ed Office or make an advising appointment.
