Academics

The art program seeks to graduate artists and designers ready to participate in God’s work of reconciliation and transformation as responsible makers in service to others from within communities of faith. The program leads students toward an aesthetic and spiritually mature synthesis of thinking and making placed within historic and current conversations in art, design, and Christian theology through exploratory studio practices to develop creative interests that can inspire a lifetime of making.

Communication Arts at Gordon stands at the intersection of creativity, strategy and vision. Our students are trained to be prepared to disseminate messages and tell stories through a variety of media so that our society can thrive. This is accomplished through coursework and hands-on experiences that teach theoretical foundations, diverse and creative approaches to content generation, guided experiences and independent work in video, print digital and audio, and regular practice of critical thinking and critical assessment of messaging. 

Gordon College offers both undergraduate and graduate music programs. Our programs graduate musicians fully equipped for success in today's complex world. Each degree program combines a performance-oriented, nationally accredited education with real-world experience, cultivating musicians who possess exceptional skill and knowledge, with the potential to have a crucial impact globally.

Using a research-based, practice-driven and community-supported approach, Gordon's graduate music education program is transforming music teaching and learning. Master's, post-baccalaureate and continuing education options offer an exceptional foundation for new teachers and the tools for experienced teachers to thrive in K–12 choral, instrumental and general music classroom and ensemble settings.
