Admission for Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Thank you for your interest in pursuing your next degree at Gordon. With rolling admission, we’re excited to get you started right away.

Students from a wide range of backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to attend. We welcome students drawn to a range of vocational callings including community mental health, agency work, private practice, and faith-sensitive forms of care.

What can you do in the applicant portal? Much more than just start your application! You can:


  • Book an appointment with a member of our admissions team (choose from phone, virtual, or in-person appointments).
  • Direct message with our admissions and advising teams.
  • Start an application (you can save your progress and come back to finish any time).
  • Submit your application!

Once all of your application materials have been submitted, it will be reviewed by the Graduate Admissions Committee. Upon acceptance, you will receive an acceptance email followed by a mailed letter and acceptance packet.

Admissions Requirements

  • A completed graduate program application
  • One official transcript of each degree earned from accredited undergraduate and graduate schools. These transcripts must be originals, not photocopies, and should be sealed in the original envelope from the registrar of the institution. An undergraduate degree is required with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher**
  • A professional résumé or curriculum vitae (CV)
  • An academic or professional reference that evaluates the candidate’s ability to complete work at the graduate level
  • A personal reference from an individual not related to the applicant that speaks to their character
  • A statement of purpose essay, generally 500-700 words, which offers an opportunity to demonstrate writing skills, goals and aspirations and why you are seeking to continue your education at Gordon College, specifically within your program of interest. Be sure to mention any experience you think is pertinent to the program to which you are applying
  • ** Students with promise but less than a 3.0 undergraduate grade point average may be admitted on a provisional status
