Summer Residencies

Students will attend two five-day, in-person, summer residencies over the course of their degree program. The cost of each residency is $350 and includes housing and meals.

  • Summer Residency I: Clinical Skills and Intervention
The program begins with a single-week, intensive summer residency. This immersive experience focuses exclusively on Clinical Skills and Intervention. Residents engage in face-to-face practice in a controlled environment, utilizing simulated sessions to receive immediate, direct critique on therapeutic technique.
  • Summer Residency II: Cognitive and Personality and Assessments
Students return for a second one-week intensive focused on the practical application of cognitive and personality assessments. This residency provides the hands-on training necessary to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional psychological assessment and evaluation.

Practicum

The 100-hour practicum is the first entry point into supervised clinical work. Taken during the spring of the first year, this placement focuses on foundational application. Students observe and participate in the counseling process, prioritizing the development of professional identity and basic intervention.

Internship

The 600-hour internship is the culminating experience of the program, spanning the entire second year. Interns manage a caseload and perform the full range of duties expected of a professional counselor, refining intervention strategies and clinical documentation under the mentorship of licensed site supervisors.

Program Components

Personalized Placement Support

Finding the right clinical environment is essential for professional development. Our Clinical Director works individually with each student to identify and secure the Practicum and Internship experiences that best align with their career goals and clinical interests. This collaborative process ensures that every student is placed in a setting where they can thrive under expert supervision.

The Power Block Schedule

To maximize access to the region’s highest-quality clinical sites, our academic courses are concentrated into a Tuesday/Thursday power block. By consolidating classroom time, we provide students with the scheduling flexibility necessary to remain fully present at their clinical sites during peak operational hours, allowing for deeper integration into professional teams.
