Gordon Hosts Special Christmas Performance and Dramatic Reading

WENHAM, MA-The Gordon College Chamber Singers will present a special Christmas performance on Sunday, December 16, at Phillips Recital Hall on the campus of Gordon College. The free event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature the reading of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Gordon professor Dr. Peter Stine.

The Gordon College Chamber Singers are a small group of music majors selected from the Gordon College Choir. Specializing in a cappella choral repertoire of the 15th-20th centuries, including madrigals, motets, carols and folk songs, the group is in high demand for public and private functions. Under the direction of Gordon music department chair
C. Thomas Brooks, the Chamber Singers have toured throughout the northeastern United States and Europe.

Dr. Peter Stine is a longtime member of the English faculty at Gordon College. His reading of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever-written by author and playwright Barbara Robinson in 1972-is a cherished Christmas tradition at Gordon that began in the 1970s. He has read the story on more than 60 occasions on campus and throughout the world. As Dr. Stine prepares for retirement from a long and distinguished career at Gordon, this will mark the final time he will read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever as a member of the fulltime faculty.

The event is free and open to the public. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Christmas cookies and hot cider will be available for audience members to enjoy.
