WENHAM, MA - For their Spring 2007 production, the Gordon College Theatre Department presents Enchanted April - a romantic comedy about four distinctive English women, initially strangers, who plan a brief escape from their bleak, gray England existence to a charming Italian seaside villa. Once in the ocean air and fresh blooming wisteria, each woman discovers a new sense of joy and happiness in their lives. Written by Matthew Barber, the Enchanted April performance at Gordon will be directed by Norman Jones, Associate Professor of Theatre Arts.

"I love the story because it's all about healing and there are always surprises in the way people are healed, often times from unexpected sources," says Jones. "People who are in quiet states of desperation, their personality and lives are utterly different, but when they're put into a beautiful spring-like environment, each in there own way become agents of healing for the other and do find reconciliation and hope in unexpected places."

The four English women are played by senior Elizabeth Polen as Lotty Wilton, senior Jill Rogati as Rose Arnott, junior Kimberly Kurczy as Lady Caroline Bramble, and senior Anne Colpitts as Mrs.Graves. Enchanted April features eight cast members (five women, three men) in total, all of whom are Theatre Arts or English Majors at Gordon.

"This performance is very much an ensemble," adds Jones. "There isn't one particular role that carries it because every actor is working together and that has been a real joy."
