WENHAM, MA-Gordon College's History Alive! theatre group will perform Spiritways: A Night in Besieged Salem Village, a full immersion historical experience where the audience participates as the actors perform. This historical performance will happen every Saturday in October at Pioneer Village, located in Forest River Park in Salem.

Spiritways allows participants to walk through Pioneer Village at night to understand what it was like to be alive during the late 17th century, giving people an understanding of the superstitions, fears and beliefs during that time.

"Pioneer Village is the perfect location to understand how people lived in a 17th-century village," said Kristina Stevick, artistic director and codirector of The Institute for Public History. "It makes a wonderful multisensory environment for our show."

History Alive!, Gordon's professional acting branch and part of the College's Theatre Department, takes events that have happened in history and performs them so the audience can experience--and even participate--in the time period firsthand. Students, alumni and full-time actors play a part in these performances.

Spiritways will be performed every Saturday in October at 7:13, 8:13, 9:13, 10:13 and 11:13 p.m. and the cost is $13. Waivers must be signed by all participants; they can be picked up at the gate or downloaded ahead of time at www.gordon.edu/historyalive/productions. Children 18 and under must have a parental signature.
