Medication Policies
Controlled Substances & Prescribing Policy
Students are responsible for the safety and security of their prescribed medications. Controlled substances must be kept in a locked box, and must be accessible only to the patient to whom the medication is prescribed.
The Gordon College Health Center may prescribe medication to treat basic illness and infection. We do not prescribe medication for chronic medical conditions. Medication is prescribed and/or distributed at the discretion of Health Center staff. Medication available at the Health Center may include:
- Antibiotics (topical, systemic)
- Antifungals (topical, systemic)
- Steroids (topical, systemic)
- Nebulizer treatments
- GI medications
- Tylenol, ibuprofen
- Allergy medications
- Wound wash
- Artificial tears
- Mucinex
- Cough drops
*Students with a counselor referral may request a mental health medication evaluation with our nurse practitioner/behavioral health provider. Mental health medications may be prescribed at the discretion of the provider.
