Frequently Asked Questions
- How many hours per week is the RA job commitment?
Although there are busier and quieter seasons within each semester, on average an RA is committing to 15-20 hours per week and an Apartment RA is committing to 8-10 hours per week. - Do I get to pick my roommate if I'm an RA?
Yes! RA roommates are often a huge support in your ministry to residents, so you will typically work with the RD of the staff you are joining to make sure the person you select as a roommate will be a good fit/support for you over the coming year. - Can I be an athlete and an RA at the same time?
Yes! Every year we have a number of athletes who serve on residence life staff. The key to success is proactive communication between the athlete, coach and RD. - How many hours per week can I be committed to outside residence life?
As a general rule of thumb, we recommend not more than 10 hours per week of additional extracurricular activities (clubs, work, band, etc.).
