Science of Learning

Overview

The Education Doctorate in the Science of Learning with a concentration in Language and Literacy Education prepares educational leaders to translate research into practice to impact educational systems and promote the equitable language and literacy practices effective for all learners.

This program is designed for experienced educators, speech language pathologists, and related professionals eager to expand their leadership capacity and sphere of impact.

Designed for the working professional

This 60 credit program is intentionally designed for you to complete all coursework and the dissertation in just three years. Gordon’s Ed.D. in the Science of Learning will meet primarily online with an annual one week summer residency requirement. The course calendar makes use of 7-week intensive courses, typically taken one at a time, and will include both synchronous (evening EST) and asynchronous components.

Supportive dissertation process

Complete a “dissertation in practice” with scholarly research addressing a real world problem of practice. Your dissertation will be carefully scaffolded throughout the program. Over the course of three years you will develop a research question, define a research method plus collect and analyze your data. In your final course, you’ll both write and defend your research and present your findings to a practitioner audience.
