Actuarial Science

Do you want to apply your quantitative skills to careers in insurance, financial planning or risk assessment? Then, Gordon College’s Actuarial Science minor may be for you.  

The Actuarial Science minor, especially when paired with a major such as math, finance or economics, will prepare you for the first actuary exam—which covers probability—and provide credentials you can count towards becoming an actuary (Validation by Educational Experience - VEE). While housed in Mathematics, our minor includes courses from the School of Business and is taught by faculty with experience in accounting, finance and risk analysis.

In the actuarial field, they can bring a strong sense of ethical duty toward their customers who buy insurance. These values can guide them as actuaries to make ethical decisions when financial risk is involved and seek to address societal needs, while promoting fairness.
