Health Science

Healthcare jobs are among the fastest-growing jobs in the country, and Gordon is located near the healthcare hub of Boston, which houses some of the country’s top hospitals and facilities for treatment, research and education. Overall employment in healthcare occupations is projected to grow 13 percent from 2021 to 2031. This increase will result in about two million new jobs over the decade. Success in healthcare requires both competence and compassion. That’s why at Gordon we care about the human side of medicine and cultivating a servant’s heart. In addition to a strong science foundation and hands-on experiences, you’ll develop the soft skills of compassion, hospitality and care that are critical for success. The health science (B.S.) major at Gordon College is a holistic major with nine health professions concentrations:

Our unique Health Professions Seminar for sophomores and juniors allows you to explore healthcare career options, discuss ethical issues in medicine and connect with Gordon alumni from across the healthcare industry—all of which give you an advantage when applying to graduate schools. We are located just outside of Boston, a city that houses some of the country’s top hospitals and facilities for treatment, research and education.

Study and take part in hands-on dissection in our advanced anatomy lab, a rare opportunity for undergraduates. Gain real clinical experiences through Gordon’s internship program at Duke University and the Gordon Medical Observership program. You can also pursue an internship at the on-campus Center for Balance, Mobility and Wellness.

What can I pursue with a health science degree?
