Call for Papers, Panels, Roundtables, Workshops

While we seek paper and panel proposals that address the state of democracy in the US (and comparatively), we also welcome proposals on other topics and research questions within the broad discipline of political science (American, theory, comparative, and international relations), and within related fields including history and sociology. The planning team is also interested in non-paper panels, including meet the author sessions, roundtables on political and/or policy issues, workshops on teaching, and panels on the integration of faith and learning in general. We will arrange panel chairs and discussants.

Individual Paper

If accepted, individual papers will be included on a 90-minute panel with up to three other papers.  Papers should be presented, not read.  Authors should anticipate no more than 12-15 minutes to present their papers.

Full Panels

Proposals for full panels are welcome.  Panel proposals should include all paper and participant details, including titles, abstracts, authors and roles.  Panels may include up to four papers, one or two discussants, and one chair.

Roundtable

Roundtables are 90-minute discussion-based sessions where participants consider a shared topic.  Submissions require a session title and full participant list (up to six people).

Author Meets Critics

Similar to a roundtable, but focused on discussion of a published or forthcoming work.  Sessions may open with a brief author presentation, followed by a panel of critics offering feedback and discussion.

Workshop

These 90-minute sessions offer hands-on or interactive learning experiences, often focused on teaching or other professional development, or specialized subfields.  Proposals should incorporate active learning approaches and clearly outline session goals, structure, and learning objectives.

For all proposals, include:

  • Author(s) and affiliation
  • Paper / panel title
  • A brief description or abstract
  • Institutional affiliation
  • Contact information of all participants, including email addresses
  • Technology needs: powerpoint, video, etc.
  • Please indicate if you are willing to serve as a panel chair or discussant
  • Maximum 500 words

Deadline for submission of proposals is March 4, 2026. Applicants will be notified of acceptance on a rolling basis but in all cases, no later than March 15, 2026.

Please submit proposals to [email protected].

NOTE: All paper presenters have an important obligation to ensure that all panel members, especially discussants, receive copies of their papers two weeks prior to the conference.
