At Heritage, we are resolved in our commitment to making our residency as accessible as possible. This extends into our philosophy behind scholarships. Each summer, we take great joy in awarding scholarships on a case-by-case basis. These are not mere financial amounts to be awarded on a merit system. Instead, we view them as gifts to be given to those who demonstrate kingdom values of extravagance, generosity, and stewardship.

If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, please indicate this in your Heritage application. Once you have submitted your regular application, you can find a separate scholarship application located in your student portal. Our team will wait to release your admissions and scholarship decisions until we have received both of your applications.

Live and learn on Campus

Program Location

Welcome to Gordon College's stunning campus, nestled just 25 miles north of Boston. During your on-campus residency week, you can look forward to practicing life as a real college student: enjoying delicious meals in Lane Student Center, befriending your roommate and suitemates in one of our most comfortable dorms, and settling down in the summer grass for some solo time reflection. The place will feel like home in no time!

Beyond Gordon's campus, Heritage takes you exploring into some beautiful pockets of the North Shore of Massachusetts. As a cohort, we'll pause to notice God's beauty and presence on the beaches of Gloucester, the brick-red streets of historic Boston, and the sweeping blueberry fields of an Amesbury farm. Creation is your campus!

Hear from a Heritage Student

"This past week has been one of the greatest I have ever experienced in my entire life. Not only was I surrounded by amazing teens and leaders, but the lessons that were taught, the workshops that encouraged us to look closer at God's creation, and the counselors that led us through the steps to recognize the Lord's plan for each of us were just so incredible ... I would gladly do it again."

College Credit

Your Heritage residency experience earns you four college credits! Enjoy GEN130: Heritage: Rhythms of Renewal. Before your residency week, you and your cohort (a tight-knit group of 30 high schoolers) will individually reflect on several readings and poems that will set the stage for our time together. Come to campus this June or July to explore these ideas alongside Gordon College professors, college-aged Heritage mentors, and your new friends and classmates from around the world. After heading home, you will individually reflect on your time at Heritage through two intriguing final projects. These four college credits are transferable to any institution of higher learning, especially Christian colleges and universities.

Phone Policy

Heritage is a technology-free program. In a world that rewards busyness and distraction. Heritage is committed to creating an environment for students of deep peace and renewing beauty. Students will be ushered to "set aside" their phones for the week during the program's orientation as we commit our minds, hearts, and bodies to a week of transformation, friendship, and personal growth.

Program staff will be available throughout the week for communications with families. Parents can look forward to a daily update email detailing some of the beautiful events of the day and inviting them to pray for our cohort. For further information, please reach out to our team.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I receive college credit?
Yes! Heritage is an accredited program through Gordon College that encompasses a 4-credit class. To earn your credits, engage thoughtfully with your pre-reading materials through 2 brief, reflective projects, come to campus brimming with curiosity and excitement for your residency week, and reflect intentionally on your experience in 2 assignments. Official class transcripts will be emailed out by Gordon College's Registrar shortly after the program.

How long is Heritage?
The Heritage residency is a week-long, joy-filled experience. You will arrive on campus on a Sunday afternoon and depart on a Friday evening/Saturday morning. The larger 4-credit Heritage course (GEN130: Heritage: Rhythms of Renewal), including pre-readings & projects, will begin a month before the residency week and conclude two weeks after the experience.

What will the schedule look like during the week?
Each day will begin with Morning Assembly, a gathering where our Chaplain leads us through a time of studying Scripture and praising God together. Before lunch, our cohort will enjoy a hands-on creative workshop led by Gordon faculty (past workshops have included: poetry, pottery, architecture, theater, and choral singing!). Afternoons illustrate the day's teaching through cultural excursions into Boston & the North Shore and some reflective solo time on Gordon's lovely campus. In the evenings, we will delight in hosting "hospitality dinners," preparing the food, table arrangements, and conversation prompts to welcome guests: Gordon faculty, staff, and alumni! Each day concludes with an uplifting time in small groups, reflecting on the day and praying together with our college-aged mentors.

I'm hoping to apply for a scholarship. How can I do that?
Wonderful! Heritage has a number of generous scholarships available. In your application, please click "Yes" on the question about applying for financial aid. Then, once you've submitted your regular application, head to your student portal to fill out our two-question Scholarship Application. Our team can't review your application until we've received both forms, so be sure to fill out that Scholarship Application soon after submitting your regular app!

If I'm planning to fly to Heritage, which airport should I choose? When should I arrive and depart?
Book your flights to arrive to Boston Logan International Airport! Orientation begins on Sunday afternoon, so choose a flight that arrives in BOS before 3:00pm on the Sunday of your residency week. All national/international students will be dropped off at the airport on the Saturday morning directly following their residency week. We would encourage you to book a late morning flight that day!

How do I arrange transportation to/from Heritage?
Heritage staff will provide transportation to and from the airport for anyone flying in nationally/internationally. Once you book your flights, please forward your flight receipts to [email protected]. Most of our students have never flown alone before, so a member of our staff will be waiting to greet you with a big smile at your baggage claim! A few days before your arrival for the residency week, our team will send you a personalized email with your driver's phone number and some additional instructions for once you deplane.

Hear from a Heritage Student

"I can imagine what the world would be like if everyone experienced the environment of the Heritage program. The world would be such a different place if everyone was just as faithful, friendly, kind, compassionate, loving, caring, (the list goes on and on!) as everyone at Heritage is."

— ERICA, Heritage '24
