Music Education Professional Licensure Program

Overview

A Licensure-Only Program for Professional Certification K – 12 Music

Our summers-only curriculum is designed as a practical path to teacher licensure eligibility for the following candidates:

  • Music educators who already hold  the Initial License in K – 12 music, plus a Master’s Degree in a discipline other than music education, and wish to advance to Professional License without completing an additional master’s program

The Gordon Professional Licensure Program is fully approved and accredited as a teacher preparation program by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Benefit from the choice and flexibility of Master’s level graduate coursework specific to the music content areas required for Professional license endorsement

  • 12 credits total are required and can be completed exclusively during the summer term
  • Join an already vibrant and passionate community of graduate music summer leaners pursuing an advanced degree, other licensure certification, and professional development opportunities
  • In person courses and music making opportunities will provide immediately relevant and applicable learning specific to the music teaching discipline

Convenient Summer Schedule for Working Educators

With in-person coursework and lab ensemble experiences concentrated during the summer term, combined with online learning during the academic year, this program is built for working professionals, career changers, and today’s educators.

Students are welcome to join our summer workshops for additional professional development or to earn graduate credit.
