Biblical Studies

The Department of Biblical Studies and Christian Ministries

The Biblical Studies department emphasizes the centrality of the Word of God:

  • Gives you a thorough grounding in the truth of God's Word.
  • Prepares you to be a witness for Christ in our culture and contemporary world.
  • Teaches the Bible in the context of its setting and demonstrates the relevance of that timeless Word as authoritative today.

The department offers you a rich variety of courses in Old Testament, New Testament, theology, Greek and Hebrew.

You can concentrate in:

  • Biblical Languages
  • Jewish Studies

You can also take part in a one-year Bible-at-Gordon program once you have completed a B.A. or B.S. degree or simply desire a year of work in this field.

The faculty members of the department have earned degrees from a variety of scholarly backgrounds. They bring experiences in pastoral ministry, research, scholarship and world travel and seek to serve you not only in the classroom, but also informally through life together at Gordon.

Ministry to the world today and service to the Church are stressed. You will be encouraged to make the Bible the emphasis in a broad liberal arts education, enabling you to live effectively and productively for Christ in whatever vocations you choose.

Time to pack your bags and books…You can choose among many semester, year, short-term or summer abroad programs around the globe through the Global Education Office (GEO). Tuition for the programs is the same as a regular semester or year on campus. Check out some of the many opportunities:
