Bio

Laurel Copp is the Director of the Gordon Honors Institute and the Global Scholar program and teaches in the areas of Old Testament and Christian Ethics. She studied Biblical Languages and Philosophy at Geneva College and Old Testament and Theology at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Before coming to Gordon in 2021, Laurel was a religious life affiliate at Brown University and Yale University. Doing campus ministry with students from all around the world, across denominational divides, and from different faith backgrounds afforded her the opportunity to experience the benefits of ecumenicalism, the Global Church, and interfaith dialogue.

Laurel loves studying and teaching the Old Testament and is particularly interested in biblical theology as well as ethics in the Pentateuch and the Prophets. Her research interests include Old Testament ethics, global and marginalized readings of the Old Testament, and the impact of these interpretations on biblical theology and Christian ethics.
