Bio
Soo (Hyunsoo) Kim is a strategic management scholar specializing in organizational learning and technological innovation. She earned both her Ph.D. and M.A. from the School of Business and Technology Management at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), one of South Korea’s premier research universities. She also holds a B.A. in biology and psychology from Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in South Korea.
During graduate school, she served as an instructor for business simulation (Capstone) courses for seven years, supporting both undergraduate and MBA-level instruction. Through this experience, she developed a strong commitment to experiential learning and to helping students build strategic decision-making skills that bridge theory and practice.
Her research interests lie at the intersection of sustainability, technological innovation, and firm strategy. In particular, she focuses on how firms manage technologies to achieve a sustainable future—addressing challenges such as emissions reduction and accelerated drug development for global health. Her work has been published in leading business journals, including Production and Operations Management (a UTD24-listed journal). Through her research, she aims to offer insights into how firms can effectively manage technologies to balance sustainability and innovation.
