Meet the Gordon Symphony Orchestra

General Information

If you are a high school string player (violin, viola, cello, double bass), this is an exciting opportunity to rehearse and perform with the Gordon Symphony Orchestra. We invite you to come observe and learn alongside our orchestra. Experience the life of a Gordon College music student and be inspired!

The Gordon College Symphony Orchestra will be playing a concert of works by female composers: Molly Joyce, Soon Hee Newbold and Louise Farrenc.

You will have the opportunity to join us performing the last movement of Symphony No. 3 by Farrenc.

Participating in this special visit day will give you the opportunity to:

  • An in-depth tour of the Phillips Music Center
  • Receive information about our music programs
  • Learn from Gordon's inspiring conductor, Dr. Gabe Southard by observing or playing in a rehearsal with the Symphony Orchestra
  • Meet music students at our complimentary dinner at the College's dining facility
  • Observe or perform in the Symphony Orchestra concert that evening

If you are a violin, viola, cello or bass player and would like to rehearse and perform with the Gordon Symphony Orchestra for a night, please register by October 6.

After your registration, Dr. Southard will personally reach out to you and provide you with music and practice resources to prepare for the concert.
