For new fall term students, International Orientation occurs just before General Orientation and is meant to provide you with additional time and important information as you transition. International Orientation runs from 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, through mid-day on Friday, August 24, 2018. It is mandatory for all F-1 Visa students. Other international students are encouraged to attend (but not required to attend).
For new spring term students, International Orientation is combined with General Orientation. This combined Orientation will run in January 2018 from 5 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019, through Wednesday, January 16, 2019. It is mandatory for all new students.
Before you arrive on campus, there are a few important tasks for you to accomplish:
Complete all visa requirements and paperwork, if you are not a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident. The Director of International Initiatives and Operations, Caroline Dixon, is available to assist you with this process and can answer any questions you may have.
Once you know your travel plans, request a free International Student Airport Pickup, available for 24 hours (12:01 a.m.–11:59 p.m.) on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, only. If you will NOT need transportation, please let us know that as well, so we can plan to welcome you on campus (not at the airport).
Using the New Student Wizard, set up your Gordon username and email. You will need your date of birth and student ID to complete this step. Your student ID will be emailed to you.
Begin working through GC101. GC101 is an online “pre-orientation” introduction to the College. We’ve included a wide-range of information that will make your transition to Gordon as smooth as possible. There are several tasks that you will need to complete which are outlined in this program.
Review the international student Orientation schedule (below) and begin planning your arrival. Consult the packing list as you prepare for life on campus! Please note that generous donors have provided new bedding for incoming international students, to save you room in your luggage! Upon arrival, the following items will be waiting for you in your room: sheets, quilt, pillow, pillowcase, towel, and hand towel.
