Tim Bean '19
Office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration

Tim Bean is a junior 3-2 physics-engineering major from Trumbull, Connecticut. Tim grew up working at his family business and has held numerous leadership roles throughout his life. In high school, he served as captain of his varsity soccer team while also coaching a team of younger players. He also established his own home repair/maintenance business in which he employed five of his fellow students. Through his home church, Tim has volunteered in a low-cost housing development in a nearby city to bring children to Christ. At Gordon, Tim has been involved in various clubs and has worked as a teaching assistant in the physics department. Off campus, Tim helps to maintain the trails of Gloucester and works for a retired family performing home repairs and regular assistance. The summer following his freshman year at Gordon, Tim interned for an engineering company in Connecticut that designs and manufactures helicopter parts for Lockheed Martin. Following his sophomore year, Tim interned for a "big data" company where he worked on developing a marketable product that utilizes Machine Learning. In the future, he hopes to attain an MBA and eventually start his own business. As a Christian in the engineering field, Tim looks forward to positively impacting others through his aptitude for innovation and technology and his Christ-centered perspective.

Madeline Berry '18
Office of the Vice President for Student Life

Madeline Berry is a senior from San Luis Obispo, California, pursuing a double major in biblical studies and social work. During her time at Gordon, she has displayed her commitment to interpersonal leadership through leading spiritual life groups, mentoring young women, and leading a service trip to Swaziland. In addition, Madeline has participated in athletics on Gordon’s tennis team and earned the CCC all-conference award for her exceptional doubles play. Outside of Gordon, Madeline has served her community in several ways, including tutoring migrant children in an after-school program and homeschooling a young boy fighting cancer. She has served in women’s shelters in the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua and spoke at a center for prostitute rehabilitation in Swaziland. Recently, she was employed by Northeast Arc, an organization that provides lifelong support for individuals with disabilities, which ignited a desire to advocate for integrative classrooms in public schools. Madeline has a profound ability to effectively serve, love, and encourage her peers and hopes to demonstrate this in any direction God leads her, but her plan is currently to be in full-time ministry. Madeline would describe herself as someone who "loves Jesus and loves people.”

Michelle Buettner '19
Office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration

Michelle Buettner is a junior A.J. Gordon Fellow from Danvers, Massachusetts with a double major in business and finance and a concentration in management. Before attending Gordon College, Michelle participated in ELEVATE, a leadership development program that brings together students from around the world to create plans for solutions to real-world problems in their communities. During her first year at Gordon, Michelle was a Forrester Venture Fellow and traveled to Silicon Valley to meet with founders, CEOs, and employees of start-ups ranging from Google and Facebook to Box and Pocket. Pursuing entrepreneurship, Michelle participated in the Social Venture Challenge with a team working to build a non-profit called Anugra. Anugra is a textile company based in Bhopal, India, that empowers women through education and employment. Additionally, Michelle has been part of the Academic Affairs Committee, a student ambassador on the Community Engagement Committee, and the program and external relations coordinator for the professional development program LAUNCH, and she continues to serve as a tour guide at Gordon. This past summer, Michelle worked at FERI, an investment management company in Bad Homburg, Germany. After graduation, Michelle hopes to pursue a career that continues her passion for people, for efficiency, and for effective leadership strategies.

Mason Casady '18
​Office of the Chief Development Officer and Senior Vice President for Advancement

Mason Casady is a senior pursuing a double major in business administration and psychology. Mason graduated from Dos Pueblos High School in Southern California, where he was part of the National Honor Society and captained the men’s varsity tennis team for three years. While at Gordon, Mason has served as the junior class representative on the Gordon College Student Association, a teaching assistant for the business department, and the captain of the Gordon Men’s Varsity Tennis team. During this time, Mason has received all-CCC honors in both singles and doubles each year he has played and has received Presidential Honors for his academic work. Mason’s passion for tennis has also led him to serve the community around him through his team’s volunteering at a local elementary school in Lawrence, MA, and on a missions trip to the Dominican Republic. During the summers, he has worked as the office coordinator for an Aramark marina at Lake Powell while serving as a team member for A Christian Ministry in the National Parks. Mason has also interned at his home church, where he mentors high school students. After graduating, Mason hopes to continue to explore his interest in the combination of business and psychology.

Noah Henkell '19
Office of the President

Noah Henkell is a junior Kenneth L. Pike Honors Scholar majoring in public policy with a concentration in political and moral philosophy. He has a God-given desire to serve others and develop impactful relationships. During Noah's time at Gordon, that desire has led him to serve as chapter president of the College Republicans, vice-president of the Political Discourse Club, a student ambassador, on the Student Philanthropy Committee, an intern in the Office of Presidential Development & Advancement Events, and a teaching assistant in the Department of History. Noah is a recipient of Dean's List and Presidential Honors, and is a proud member of the Gordon College Men's Baseball Team. Noah is a California native, raised primarily in San Diego, where he worked as a legislative intern for Senator Joel Anderson (CA-38). He also worked as a policy analyst for the Lincoln Club of San Diego County, writing policy papers on proposed legislation and meeting with local political leaders. Opportunities to serve others have also taken Noah on mission trips to both Mexico and China with his home church. After Gordon, Noah plans to attend law school and hopes to one day serve others in public office.

Kristin Mello '18
​Office of the Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff

Kristin Mello is a senior majoring in psychology with a Pike minor in teaching English to speakers of other languages. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, she spent most of her life in the Azores islands of Portugal, serving with her missionary family. This international experience instilled in her a deep love for culture, nature, and people in transition. She hopes to use this passion to facilitate personal growth and development for people of all ages. At Gordon, Kristin has acquired a multifaceted view of the student and staff population by serving in a variety of campus programs: Admissions, International Student Services, Orientation, Residence Life, the La Vida Center for Outdoor Education, the Chapel Office, and Physical Plant. She has also participated in multiple service-learning trips and was a member of the residential-based Reveal program, an intentional community focused on practicing spiritual disciplines. She is a dedicated member of the International Student Organization as well. During her summers, Kristin has worked at La Vida Adventure Camp, a day camp for youth ages 10-15, and for Equip, a Chapel-run program that invests in high school students and challenges them to deepen their day-to-day faith. Following graduation, Kristin hopes to utilize elements of outdoor education and relational ministry wherever God calls her, as a means of sharing the love of Christ with those around her.

Grace Shaw '19

Grace Shaw is a junior philosophy student taking full advantage of the liberal arts with minors in creative writing, theology, and pre-law. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, she finds herself a long way from home on the North Shore, but ever since her family visited Boston when she was in elementary school she knew she’d be back; big Texas skies and Gloucester sunsets aren’t so different after all. During Grace's time at Gordon, she has enjoyed serving as a campus tour guide, a philosophy peer tutor, a participant in Gordon’s Northern Ireland Service Learning trip to study peace and conflict, and even as a stage manager on the technical side of the Theatre Arts department. She has published pieces in both The Idiom, Gordon’s oldest literary and arts publication, and Princemere, Gordon’s academic journal. First and foremost, Grace is a wordsmith in service of all that is true, good, and beautiful. After Gordon, she hopes to pursue a career in speechwriting and/or graduate studies in Socratic philosophy, and maybe someday she’ll teach tenth-grade theology at a Classical Christian high school.

Antonio Vargas Jr. '19

Antonio Vargas is a junior Clarendon Scholar majoring in business administration with a double minor in biblical studies and pastoral ministries. While at Gordon, he has served and worked as a student ambassador on the Student Philanthropy Committee, a LAUNCH Coordinator, a resident advisor in Ferrin Hall, a mission trip leader to the Dominican Republic, a Multicultural Initiatives Office ambassador, and an intern for the Office of Student Life and the ELEVATE Leadership Lab. During Antonio's first year at Gordon, he and other Clarendon Scholars founded One Body, a ministry that builds community by leading the campus in meaningful worship that reflects the diversity of the Kingdom of God. In addition to Antonio's Gordon involvements, he serves SkillsUSA, a national non-profit organization that is a partnership of students, teachers and blue-collar industries collaborating to ensure America has a skilled workforce, in the department of Education, Training, and Assessments. Born and raised in New London, Connecticut, Antonio is of Puerto-Rican descent and is a first-generation college student. He cares deeply about inner-city economic and social development, and plans to work in an urban environment after pursuing a graduate degree in educational leadership and divinity. He is spurred by his passion for the Gospel of Jesus, development, and people, and he anticipates following his call into ministry. In his free time, Antonio loves to spend time with his friends watching movies, laughing, cooking, and traveling the globe.
