The Academic Success Center (ASC) is committed to integrating career planning and resources into its academic advising model. By utilizing resources and staff from the Career and Connection Institute (CCI), ASC is building career pathways for students with an individualized focus. Initiatives include:
A Community Partnership with Work Without Limits.
Work Without Limits is a network of employers, educational institutions, employment service providers, state and federal agencies, individuals with disabilities and their family members.
Through collaboration and partnership, our goal is to increase the employment of people with disabilities until it is equal to those without disabilities.
Work Without Limits programs and services are geared to meet the needs of businesses that actively recruit people with disabilities, individuals with disabilities who are seeking jobs, and the employment providers that serve them.
Direct referrals by academic counselors for career advising appointments starting in students’ first year to beyond graduation.
Specialized career resources for students with disabilities, international students and English Language Learners (ELL).
Helping students explore their choice of majors and occupations through tools like What Can I Do With This Major?
Other forms of exploration related to majors and minors include job shadowing, informational interviewing and immersion trips to organizations and events. Support for gaining workplace experience through campus jobs, internships, undergraduate research is available to help prepare students for transitions to the workplace and further education.
