Design Faculty

Art faculty members are professionals in each of their specialty areas. They are artists who teach the very media they practice, including painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography and design.

  • Faculty members exhibit their work nationally and internationally from New York and Boston to St. Petersburg, Russia and Florence, Italy.
  • Their works reside in many national and international collections.
  • Each is a member of Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA) and the College is a member of the College Art Association (CAA).


Claire Bennett Roll

Assistant Professor of Art

Originally from Upstate New York, Claire Roll graduated from Gordon College with a B.A. degree in studio art: concentrating in sculpture. She completed her Post-Baccalaureate program at the School of the Museum of Fine arts in 2014 and holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Boston University. She lives and practices in Boston. Matthew Doll

Associate Professor in the Practice of Art
Director, Gordon in Orvieto

Matthew Doll is a painter and graphic designer. He is the Program Director of the Gordon IN Orvieto semester program, where his Disegno / Drawing course serves as the cornerstone of the curriculum. Previously Doll taught drawing at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem for six years. Abby Ytzen-Handel

Abby Ytzen-Handel

Teaching Professor of Art

Abby is a midwest raised, New England based designer and educator. She is a teaching professor of art and heads the design concentration at Gordon College. In addition to her work as a graphic designer, she is a permaculture designer, specializing in creating landscape designs that are ecological, regenerative and food productive.
