About:

Nate has over a dozen years of full-time experience in the wilderness education field and has been involved with the Gordon College La Vida program since 1997. As Director of La Vida’s Adirondack program, Nate spends his summers in upstate New York at La Vida’s 75-acre base camp property outside of Lake Placid. In this role, he recruits, hires and trains roughly 40 part-time staff per year, oversees the management of the base camp property and is in charge of all budgeting, marketing and administration. In addition to La Vida responsibilities, Nate also teaches within the W.I.L.D. Semester and the PE department (running class). Nate is certified as a Wilderness Education Association instructor, Leave No Trace Master Educator and Wilderness Medical Associates Wilderness First Responder. He maintains active memberships with the Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education, the Center for Outdoor Ethics, and the Wilderness Education Association. While not at work, Nate loves spending time with his black Lab, Colden (named for his favorite peak in the ADK’s), running marathons (three-time Boston Marathon qualifier) and fellowshipping with members of his church (Union Congregational in Magnolia).
