Rebekah Holland’s La Vida Experience

La Vida participant in 2003

Founder and Owner of Well Dot
Chapel Hill, NC

Between La Vida’s solo and additional experiences that led me to practice the discipline of solitude, I have learned what it means to slow down and reflect.

Solo time was all about reflection and spending extended time in thought before moving forward.

I learned that if you don’t stop and assess what is going on in life, there is the risk of making completely different decisions. Reflection helps you assess the life you are living and make informed decisions for what is next.

La Vida’s solo was part of a long journey. The benefits of reflection helped me evaluate things I loved in and outside of the wilderness context: family, hospitality and baking.

Through my work and time spent with my family, I’m inspired to lean on the Lord for all things. If the Lord has taken all this time to invest in me, that is a sacred thing that I don’t want to mess up. I have no problem pacing myself in order to truly reflect and listen to what God’s call is for my life each new day.
