Los Angeles Film Studies Center

Life in Hollywood and internships with 20th Century Fox casting, Henderson Productions or Miramax Films, just to name a few, are what waits for you at the Los Angeles Film Studies Center (LAFSC). Students from CCCU schools gather to combine their ideas and energies to create in a city that is always on the cutting edge.

VISION
Located in one of the primary film and television production centers in L.A., the LAFSC integrates a Christian world view with an introductory exploration of the work and workings of mainstream Hollywood entertainment.

QUALIFICATIONS
To gain eligibility you must:

  • Be a junior or senior
  • Maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 2.75
  • Possess a strong interest in film or be pursuing a career in the film industry

CREDITS
You will combine internships and electives for a total of 16 credits.

Internships (total of 10 credits):

  • Inside Hollywood (6)
  • Faith, Film and Culture (4)

Two electives (total of 6 credits):

  • Introduction to Filmmaking (3)
  • Screenwriting (3)
  • Seminar in Producing the Independent Film (3)

APPLICATION PROCEDURE & DEADLINES

REGULAR ADMISSION:
All Gordon students applying to a BEST SEMESTER program must first submit an online seat application to participate in a Global Education program. Only after you've been approved by the Global Education Office for study abroad, may you proceed with the BEST SEMESTER's online application.
  • Seat applications for fall semester must be submitted online by March 15. Interviews with the Global Education Office must be conducted by that same date.
  • Seat applications for spring semester must be submitted online by September 15. Interviews with the Global Education Office must be conducted by that same date.

After you've been approved by the Global Education Office proceed with the BEST SEMESTER's application. Deadlines are:

  • Fall Semester: April 1
  • Spring Semester: October 1

EARLY ADMISSION:
If you wish to apply early admission to the Los Angeles Film Studies Center, then the deadlines are as follows:

  • Seat applications for fall semester-EARLY ADMISSION must be submitted online by January 15. Interviews with the Global Education Office must be conducted by that same date.
  • Seat applications for spring semester-EARLY ADMISSION must be submitted online by April 15. Interviews with the Global Education Office must be conducted by that same date.

After you've been approved by the Global Education Office, you proceed with the BEST SEMESTER's application. The BEST SEMESTER's early admission deadlines are:

  • Fall Semester: February 1
  • Spring Semester: May 1

COST
The cost is generally equal to a 16-credit semester at Gordon and includes:

  • Tuition
  • Fees
  • Room*
  • Program-related events

*Please note that board is not included in the LAFSC program fees. Accordingly you will not be billed by Gordon for board.

Not included in regular tuition costs are such items as:

  • Board
  • Personal expenses
  • Social activities
  • Local travel (cars are allowed)
  • Personal medical expenses, if incurred
