VISION

Jerusalem University College (JUC), also known as the American Institute of Holy Land Studies, is an extension campus for Gordon students in Jerusalem, Israel. As a student, you’ll participate in serious academic study in a variety of areas—biblical backgrounds and historical geography, Middle Eastern cultures and languages, the religions of the Middle East, and more. 

QUALIFICATIONS

JUC offers coursework applicable to a variety of majors (like Biblical Studies and History). To gain eligibility you must:

  • Have Junior or Senior standing at time of participation
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75
  • Possess a strong commitment to academics and Christianity

CREDIT

The program allows you to study the Christian Scriptures where the events occurred as well as study Middle Eastern:

  • Languages
  • Social and political culture
  • Religions
  • Historical relationships

Global Understanding core credit can be fulfilled by this semester program when students participate in COR210 pre-departure and COR211 upon re-entry. Lab fees apply. 

COST

Given a current issue with the Federal Government, it is critical that students interested in JUC consult with Mr. Dan O'Connell in Gordon's Student Financial Services. The regular cost of a 16-credit semester at Gordon covers:

  • JUC application and visa fees
  • Tuition
  • Fees
  • Room and board
  • Program-related costs of the semester

Not covered:

  • Flights
  • Personal expenses
  • Independent Travel

APPLICATION PROCEDURE & DEADLINES

Students wishing to study abroad must first submit an online seat application and have an interview with the Global Education Office.

FALL SEMESTER:
Online seat applications must be submitted and interviews completed by March 1. You will be notified within five days of the deadline regarding the decision on your seat application.

After you've been approved by the Global Education Office, proceed directly with your program's application process. JUC's deadline for application (which includes the visa application to Israel) for the fall semester is May 15.

SPRING SEMESTER:
Online seat applications must be submitted and interviews completed by September 30. You will be notified within five days of the deadline regarding the decision on your seat application.

After you've been approved by the Global Education Office, proceed directly with your program's application process. JUC's deadline for application (which includes the visa application to Israel) for the spring semester is November 15.
