THE DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE ARTS
The Theatre Arts Department prepares you for a life of service and leadership in theatre settings from the commercial and non-profit to the school, community, and church. The program develops and nurtures a mature, Christian perspective equipped for both analyzing performances and artistic expression, grounded on a foundation of:
PRODUCTIONS
The core of the theatre arts program is learning through actual production. The department produces three to four shows annually, in addition to class projects and student-initiated work. During any four year period at Gordon, you can expect the play selection to cover the major genres and theatrical periods of theatre history and also premieres of new works.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
You will have the opportunity to take part in various related extracurricular activities that offer further experience and expertise in theatre. These opportunities include:
History Alive!
A Gordon-based professional acting company, History Alive! offers paid positions for summer and fall work on their annual productions, including Cry Innocent: The People Versus Bridget Bishop; Goodnight, Captain White; and Inspired: An Evening with Nathaniel Hawthorne. The company provides you with hands-on experience in all aspects of running nationally-acclaimed productions.
Exit Ariel
With a name taken from the infamous stage direction in William Shakespeare's The Tempest, Exit Ariel is a student run theatre group that creates, explores and enjoys the many facets of theatre. They believe that theatre is something that anyone can participate in, despite post college plans. For more information contact:

Sweaty-Toothed Madmen
A student run comic improvisational troupe that meets weekly and performs regularly through the school year. Open auditions take place at the start of each fall semester.
THE GLOBAL EXPERIENCE
Time to pack your bags and books…You can choose among many semester, year, short-term, or summer abroad programs around the globe through the Global Education Office. Pete Holmes’ comedy writing career began with Gordon College’s student newspaper, The Tartan. Since his graduation in 2001, he has contributed to numerous comedy publications and productions in the entertainment world, most recently landing a spot as a writer for the NBC sitcom Outsourced.
