Opportunities to study in Spain, and Central and South America offer immersion experiences that can take your communication skills to the next level.
At Gordon, Spanish majors study abroad for a minimum of one semester—and because we are committed to global exposure as a crucial component of learning, your financial aid package applies to Gordon-approved programs. Your professors, who are fluent speakers and published authors, are committed to helping you prepare for this semester- or year-long immersion experience. During semesters when you study on campus, Gordon’s location in the multicultural Greater Boston area offers opportunities for involvement in local Spanish-speaking communities and church congregations

Join the Spanish club and enjoy events it hosts throughout the year. Grab your lunch and join the weekly Spanish language table. Attend cultural events in the Greater Boston area, and participate in one of Gordon’s service learning trips to a Spanish-speaking country—including the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Nicaragua. Given your linguistic skills and cultural insight as a Spanish major, you might even consider initiating a service-learning trip to another Spanish-speaking location.
As a Spanish major, you will spend one or two semesters studying abroad through the Council for International Educational Exchange (CIEE) programs in the following Spanish-speaking locations:
Interested in studying another foreign language in depth? Consider declaring the combined languages major. Spanish majors also commonly double major or minor in education, international affairs, social work, sociology, Christian ministries, linguistics, biology or physics.
