Languages and Linguistics

THE DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES & LINGUISTICS
The languages and linguistics track helps students become globally educated and locally involved in ethnic communities while providing a wide array of language, culture, literature, and linguistics classes from a distinctly Christian perspective.

COURSE OF STUDY
The Department of Languages and Linguistics serves Gordon students through studies in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Latin, Mandarin Chinese and Linguistics. Designed for students interested in language proficiency, cultural competence and/or the scientific study of language, the department offers majors in French, German, Spanish, and Linguistics.

Languages are for students:

• Who want to become proficient in at least one of the languages offered
• Wishing to become globally educated by incorporating Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Italian, Latin, or Spanish into their area of study

Linguistics is for students:

• Desiring a basic knowledge of the scientific study of language
• Wishing to add Linguistics as a major to prepare for graduate school and/or missions work
