Marine Science

The Marine Biology concentration is part of the Biology major.

Many students are interested in taking advantage of Gordon’s location just a few miles from the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. We offer a summer Marine Biology Institute (offered every other summer) and regular course offerings during the school year that take advantage of our location near marine estuaries and rocky coastlines of Cape Ann, Massachusetts. Gordon also belongs to the regional Marine Studies Consortium. Courses offered by the consortium include Introduction to Marine Mammals, Coastal Zone Management, Biology of Fishes, Water Resources Planning and Management and Biology of Whales. Consortium courses are held at various New England sites including Wellesley College and the New England Aquarium. Arrangements are coordinated through the Biology Department Chair, Dr. Greg Keller.
