WEEKEND SCHEDULE

Friday, May 17th


9 a.m. Senior Breakfast
For graduates, faculty and selected administrators at Danversport Yacht Club. The president hosts this special event. Reservations with the President’s Office are required.
11:45 a.m. Group Photo
Graduates gather on the steps of A. J. Gordon Memorial Chapel. Wear cap and gown!
Noon Mandatory Practice for Baccalaureate and Commencement
Graduates gather in A. J. Gordon Memorial Chapel.
4:15 p.m. Baccalaureate Preparation
Robe and form procession in Chapel Dining Room, Lane Student Center.
5 p.m.

Baccalaureate Service
For graduating seniors and three guests per graduate in A. J. Gordon Memorial Chapel. Each senior will be given three tickets. Doors will open at 4 p.m.; seats may not be held past 4:45 p.m., and the service should end by 6:30 p.m. Ushers will be unable to hold tickets for graduates who have not given them to their guests.

Large-screen viewing will be available for unticketed and late-arrival guests in MacDonald Auditorium in the Ken Olsen Science Center. This viewing space may be more appropriate for families with small children. The service will also be streamed live online.

The Baccalaureate Service is the final opportunity for the Class of 2013 to gather together for a corporate worship service. It will include student reflections, hymns, a candle-lighting ceremony and a special message to encourage and challenge the senior class. Graduates will process and recess in academic regalia and will be seated together with their class.

Caution: Late-arrival ticketed guests may be redirected to the Science Center if the Chapel is filled to capacity. Unticketed guests will be seated in the Chapel as space allows beginning at 4:55 p.m.

Saturday, May 18th


9:15 a.m. Commencement Preparation
Robe and form procession in Chapel Dining Room, Lane Student Center. (In case of rain, A. J. Gordon Memorial Chapel.)
10 a.m.

Bachelor’s Commencement Exercises (Fair Weather Plan)
For graduating seniors, their families and friends, the faculty and administrators on the quad outside Frost Hall; unlimited seating. Immediately after Commencement, beverages will be served on the quad.

In the event of a particularly hot and sunny day, please be prepared with sunglasses or a hat and sunscreen. There is no shaded protection from the sun on the quad.

10 a.m. Bachelor’s Commencement Exercises (Rain Plan)
Each graduate will be given five tickets for the Bennett Center in case of rain. Doors will open at 9 a.m.; seats may not be held past 9:45 a.m., and the ceremony should end by noon.


For safety reasons and because of space constraints, seating will be limited and no beverages will be served if it rains. Comfortable seating and large-screen viewing will be available for unticketed and late-arrival guests in MacDonald Auditorium in the Ken Olsen Science Center. There will be live-feed viewing in the Bennett Center lobby, which may be more appropriate for families with small children. 

Students will robe in the A. J. Gordon Memorial Chapel and process to the Bennett Center.
