Reflections on a Volunteer Internship

"Working at Family and Children Services has been one of the highlights of my semester. The people there are exceptionally professional, but also kind and personable. My boss has taught me a lot about the nuts and bolts of a business, which in turn has taught me about the behind-the-scenes of a non-profit organization. I've also learned and gotten practice with software that is important in the business world. The semester has been good for FCS as well too as I've been able to help streamline their workflow by splitting tasks with the head of finance, which frees her up to take care of more sensitive and complex work. All in all, it has been an excellent experience and a relaxing trip away from the stress that often comes from academics."
