Woodwind Day

General Information

Do you play the flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, or bassoon? Don’t miss a great opportunity to mingle with other woodwind players and learn more about your instrument from the experienced faculty at Gordon College! Woodwind Day is for any age musician from beginners to more advanced players. The day is centered around informational sessions and a woodwind choir led by our dynamic band and orchestra director, Dr. Gabe Southard.

The woodwind choir will perform selections from Adam Gorb's "Suite for Winds" in the Gordon Symphony Orchestra concert that night; also featured in the concert will be clarinetist Bill Kirkley playing Ruth Gipps Clarinet Concerto, Op. 9!

Gordon Faculty who will be teaching that day:

Dr. Eileen Harrison, flute | Dr. Sarah Southard, oboe | Mr. Bill Kirkley, clarinet | Mr. David Stevens, saxophone

Participating in this special visit day will give you the opportunity to:

  • Attend and take part in sessions on topics like breathing, intonation, playing in an orchestra, and more
  • Take an in-depth tour of the beautiful Gordon College campus
