Students who have been awarded a Stafford Loan must complete two steps to accept the loan. Both steps can be completed online on the Department of Education’s Federal Student Aid Website.
STEP 1 of 2: COMPLETE A MASTER PROMISSORY NOTE
Please be sure to read your promissory note and disclosures before signing.
STEP 2 of 2: COMPLETE THE STAFFORD LOAN ENTRANCE COUNSELING
In order for your Stafford Loan funds to be disbursed to the school, the student is federally required to complete Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling. The interview consists of a series of questions that a student can complete online and is designed to ensure that the student understands the responsibilities and benefits of this loan. Once the student has completed the entrance counseling, the school will receive notification, and funds for the student's Stafford Loan will be released for disbursement.
