About:

Sophie is a sculptor, woodworker, and restoration carpenter based in Boston, MA.

She brings a deep curiosity for how historic architecture is not irrelevant, but in fact integral to giving both context and inspiration to contemporary design.

After graduating with a B.A. in Studio Art & Design, she worked with Gordon in Orvieto's art program in Italy. Upon returning to the States she worked as a stone mason before completing two years of studies in museum quality preservation carpentry at the North Bennet Street School. She recently worked on the Notre Dame de Paris truss reconstruction which was raised on the National Mall and exhibited at the National Building Museum in Washington DC.

She's interested in learning from these structures, preserving their presence, and sensitively adapting them to contemporary life in such a way that leads to an architecture that speaks truth to the embodied, connective human experience.
