Professor of Philosophy

Mark Gedney is Associate Professor and Chair of the Philosophy Department. After receiving his Ph.D. on Hegel's social philosophy in 1995 from Boston University, Dr. Gedney lectured at both Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Boston University where he taught courses in ethics, the philosophy of the social sciences, and social and political philosophy. Professor George is committed to the multi-disciplinary opportunities that sociology offers in her classroom. Her research and teaching since 1983 have focused on gender, religion, race, ethnicity, globalization, and social change. She leads Gordon students in their study abroad program in South Africa, and has recently done research on international adoption.
