Time Off/ Leave Benefits

Gordon College recognizes that employees have many spheres of responsibility and many demands on their time, so generous paid leave is provided for relaxation, recuperation, and family time. Details of leave plans can be found in the Staff Handbook. Vacation, sick and personal leave is prorated for some employees who work less than full-time.

Staff employees accrue vacation on a monthly basis, depending on position grade and years of service. Employees are encouraged to use their vacation leave each year. One week of vacation leave may be carried into the next fiscal year.

Sick Leave
Full-time staff employees are granted ten days of sick leave each year. Up to three days per year may be used to care for sick family members. Unused sick leave may accumulate up to 130 days, but is not paid out on termination.

Personal Leave
Three days of paid leave may be used each fiscal year for emergencies or for personal business that cannot be scheduled outside working hours. Except in the case of emergencies, personal leave should be scheduled with your supervisor. This time may not be added on to a vacation or holiday and is not carried over into the next fiscal year.

Gordon College observes twelve paid holidays each year. In order to continue essential services, some staff may be required to work during holiday periods. Holiday Schedule
