Time Off/ Leave Benefits

Gordon College recognizes that employees have many spheres of responsibility and many demands on their time, so generous paid leave is provided for relaxation, recuperation, and family time. Details of leave plans can be found in the Staff Handbook. Vacation, sick and personal leave is prorated for employees who work less than full-time.

Vacation
Staff employees accrue vacation on a monthly basis, depending on position grade and years of service. Employees are encouraged to use their vacation leave each year. One week of vacation leave may be carried into the next fiscal year. 

Sick Leave
Full-time staff employees are granted ten days of sick leave each year. Sick leave is not carried over into the next fiscal year. 

Personal Leave
Three days of paid leave may be used each fiscal year for emergencies or for personal business that cannot be scheduled outside working hours. Except in the case of emergencies, personal leave should be scheduled with your supervisor. This time may not be added to a vacation or holiday and is not carried over into the next fiscal year.

Holidays
Gordon College observes a minimum of  twelve paid holidays each year. To continue essential services, some staff may be required to work during holiday periods. See Holiday Schedule on the "For Current Employees" page.

Other Paid Leave
Gordon College supports employees performing family and civic obligations by granting leave for College mission trips, bereavement, jury duty, and military reserve training.

Family and Medical Leave
Under Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave (MA PFML), employees may be entitled to up to 12 weeks of Family Leave, up to 20 weeks of Medical Leave, and up to 26 weeks of Family Leave to care for a family member who is a covered service members who has an injury or illness related to their active duty.
