Parent Resources

Orientation is an important transition for both students and their families, and we have thoughtfully designed a schedule to provide the most effective way to ease your arrival and connection to campus. The parent and family programs run concurrently with new student Orientation, and we urge all families to take part in the full array of activities provided. New students will be full participants in their own program beginning the first night of Orientation.

Fall Orientation includes activities for family members on the Friday and Saturday of the program, including a Welcome Tent with area information, a Sibling Program for any younger siblings who may be traveling with you, and a Parents’ Orientation program. The final event for family members is the Signing Ceremony, after which families will be given "transition time" to say their goodbyes before departing the campus. The parent and family portion of Orientation is concluded by 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Spring Orientation is much more abbreviated. Parents are invited to dinner on the first evening of Orientation, after which students take part in their own program. Students are asked to notify the Center for Student Development of any family memebrs who will be attending (through the Orientation RSVP page).
