On June 28th, 2019, Composition Professor Mary Montgomery Koppel will participate in Deus Ex Musica's inaugural commissioning endeavor, In the Shadow of Your Wings: A Musical Exploration of the Psalms, at Old South Church in Boston. Deux Ex Musica is an ecumenical organization dedicated to the creation of new sacred music, and for this concert Dr. MK composed an art song setting of Psalm 13. The interactive concert will combine world-premiere performances of eight new settings of psalms by composers from around the world, followed by discussion and fellowship with the composers, performers, and clergy from a variety of Christian traditions.

DR. JAMIE HILLMAN

On February 15, 2019, Dr. Jamie Hillman performed a concert with the Nathaniel Dett Chorale at Koerner Hall in Toronto, Canada's professional choral group dedicated to Afrocentric music of all styles, including classical, spirituals, gospel, jazz, folk and blues. Later that month, Dr. Hillman was invited to present a session on “Vocal and Choral Techniques” at the New Jersey Music Educators Association conference in East Brunswick, NJ. In March, he was a choral clinician for the Regis College Glee Singers, Chamber Singers, and Alumni Chorus. Dr. Hillman also adjudicated choral festivals in Rhode Island (March 27 & 28), Boston (March 29 & 30, April 8 & 9), Charlotte, NC (April 5 & 6), and Washington, D.C. (April 12).
