Graduation Requirements for Graduate Programs


  • An Application for Graduation submitted to the Graduate Education Office with a fee of $150 by April 1
  • Completion of all program requirements with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Endorsement from the Board of Trustees
  • Final administrative and academic clearance

Cost of regalia is included in the graduation fee.

Commencement Participation

Graduate students who will have completed all requirements by the end of spring session are eligible to participate in Commencement. Degree candidates who have no more than 6 credits remaining may petition the Graduate Council to walk at Commencement.

Candidates must be registered for the final course(s) and have all balances cleared prior to April 30. All work must be completed by August 30 for conferral of the degree in September.

Commencement Seating
All Commencement guests are asked to be seated by 9:45 a.m. as the processional begins at 10 a.m. Seating will open at 9 a.m. on a first-come-first-served basis. Graduates can invite an unlimited number of guests if the ceremony is held on the Quadrangle. If the ceremony is held inside due to extreme weather conditions, seating is limited to four (4) guests per graduate. Please review the In Case of Inclement Weather section for details.

Commencement Regalia and Tickets
Each graduate student will be given four (4) tickets in their regalia package which can be picked up from their respective program administrator beginning Monday, April 13. Graduate students do not need a ticket to attend Commencement. The four (4) tickets are given to guests and are required for attendance in the Bennett Center only in the event of extreme weather conditions.
