A message from President Lindsay
While COVID19 has sent students, faculty, and staff off campus for the remainder of the semester, postponed Commencement, canceled our spring sports season, and required social distancing, the Gordon community remains intact and steadfast beyond the bounds of 255 Grapevine Road. Psalm 91:1-2 says “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” And so we are praying for and trusting in the Lord’s provision and promises as we move forward.
For many students, the pandemic has brought unexpected expenses and emergency situations. With the transition to remote learning, many students have lost income from campus employment or the work-study programs that helped pay their tuition bills. This situation has also created unique and personal hardships for students, such as unexpected medical bills, expenses for transportation, food, temporary housing, technology and internet access, parents becoming unemployed, or other personal or family tragedies. Your support ensures the College can continue to provide the most generous financial aid possible.
Gordon families, you have the option to donate room and board credit to help other students.
Gordon College is seeing significant impact as a result of COVID-19. From rapidly transitioning all instruction online, the majority of faculty and staff working remotely and much of the campus facilities shut down by order of the Governor of Massachusetts, we are also facing stark realities based on lost revenue in student room and board, summer rentals and programs, and new expenses to bring our education fully online. Your gift supports Gordon College with unforeseen financial needs from unexpected emergency situations.
Now more than ever, our families need affordable, adaptable options for higher education, so no matter where they are in the world they continue to receive the high-quality, Christ-centered teaching our faculty are able to provide, and our community of faithful people anchored in Christ to encourage them.
Your generosity during the pandemic will make a direct impact on the care Gordon College can provide to our whole community—our students, their families, faculty and staff—during these unprecedented times.
Thank you for being part of our Gordon community, and for all you are doing in your own communities to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We continue to hold you all in prayer.
In Christ’s service,
D. Michael Lindsay
