Financial Aid and Transitions Seminar

One of the most challenging times for students and families is the transition to college. It's a time that is filled with financial questions and transitional adjustments for parents and students alike.

As a seminar for parents and those preparing to enter college, our Financial Aid and Transitions Seminar will give families some helpful hints as they prepare for college life. During this seminar, Dan O'Connell, director of Student Financial Services at Gordon College, will give participants a look behind the curtain of the financial aid process. What is required and when is it required when it comes to financial aid applications? What can a person do to enhance their likelihood of receiving financial aid? Dan will provide a systematic walk through the financial aid process that will help the entire process both make sense and be less daunting.

During the second half of the seminar, Rev. Bob Whittet, associate professor of Christian ministries and Gordon's director of church relations, will address some of the transitions that parents and students can expect as members of the family head off to college. What will it be like and how does it impact the interpersonal dynamics within a family? As a dad whose children have all completed college, Bob will bring some practical suggestions to help understand and deal with the change.
