About the event: Family Adventure Day provides an exciting outdoor adventure learning experience for families with children older than 8 years old. Led by trained facilitators, teambuilding and problem-solving activities on our low ropes course provide the context for families to work together to achieve a common goal. These activities are designed to reveal strengths and leadership in family members in a new setting, providing a refreshing way to develop community. Families then tackle various elements on our high challenge couse with our certified belayers. The high ropes elements allow families to develop a sense of trust, confidence, and perserverance in an adventurous setting.

Overcoming these obsticles as a family provides the context to learn the power of encouragement, cooperation, and respect for one another. Experiential learning of this kind is instrumental in fostering personal community growth, especially as the meaning is drawn out of the experience. The day includes instructor-led debriefing and discussions to explore how the things learned can make a difference and be applied at home where you live, work and play. Our hope is that these adventure activities will provide families with an increased appreciation and understanding of the value of spending quality time together in the outdoors.

Family Adventure Day is offered through Adventure Pursuits, a program of Gordon College’s La Vida Center for Outdoor Education and Leadership. Learn more about the extensive opportunities La Vida provides to the greater Boston area at our main website: www.gordon.edu/lavida
