We are excited that your student is considering Elevate! We aim to get to know each and every student that comes to Elevate, to learn what they are passionate about, and to enable them to be the best they can be.
At Elevate, we believe that leadership is not taught from a textbook, but by doing. Students do not become leaders overnight. Leadership development is the process of learning to recognize one's strengths, to recognize the strengths of others, and to create excellence together. The students we invite to Elevate are chosen because they show exceptional leadership potential and are seeking to use their talents and abilities to make a difference in the world. Applications are accepted only from students who have been nominated by a headmaster, principal, or person familiar with their potential.
We understand traveling alone as a high school student can be intimidating. For students who are flying, our staff picks up and drops up all students at their arrival or departure terminal at Boston Logan airport. We monitor flight information online so we can adjust pick-up and drop-off times if a flight is delayed. Direct communication from your student about delays will be helpful, too.
Flying: If your child is flying into Boston Logan Airport, he or she will be met at the baggage claim area by an Elevate staff member wearing a bright orange Elevate t-shirt. They will drive back to campus in a Gordon van along with other students who are arriving at the same time. We strongly recommend booking your arrival flight to Elevate at the appropriate times to ensure your child does not miss out on any part of our program.
Driving: If you are driving your child to Gordon College, consult the campus map to learn where to park and where to check in your student. Parking will be available in the Chapel lot in front of Chase Hall.
Flying: Students flying out of Boston Logan Airport on a domestic flight will be dropped off at their departure terminal two hours before their departure time. Students on international flights will be dropped off three hours before their departure time. If you wish for us to accompany your son or daughter to the check-in counter, please make that request by email before the week of Elevate.
Driving: If you are picking up your child from Gordon's campus, please plan to check out in Chase Hall. Parking will be available in the Chapel lot in front of Chase Hall.
Gordon College is located on the beautiful North Shore of Massachusetts! This historic and iconic area is rich with things to see and do. For families interested in coming early or staying longer, check out our area guide. In addition, some hotels nearby will give a discount if you use a Gordon code.
We understand that your child may have special medical and/or dietary needs. We are prepared to accommodate these needs, but we are only able to do so if we are aware of them. Therefore, it is very important that any and all medical and dietary needs are indicated on the Elevate medical form to be turned in prior to arrival.
We will have an on-call nurse available for the duration of the program. The nurse will meet with students/families upon arrival to collect medications as well as review all medical needs and any special instructions. Additionally, Gordon College's campus police are medically trained and on campus 24/7 in case of emergency. The nearest hospital is 10 minutes away from campus.
The dining facility on campus is ready for all allergies and dietary restrictions. Based on the information provided through the medical forms, we will alert the dining staff of all the specific needs during the week.
