Information for International Applicants

Every year, we have students join us from all over the globe, from Hong Kong to Germany to Brazil. Whether it is your first time to the USA or your hundredth time, we are excited to welcome you!

Below are additional resources to support your travel and stay in the United States. As an international student, there are often a few extra steps, depending on which country you are coming from.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Victor Cusato, our International Student Coordinator. You can reach him with any questions at .

Application Process

In addition to the regular two-part application required of all students, we ask international students to conduct a Skype call with an Elevate staff member as part of their application. The phone interview is easy! It is simply a way for us to get to know you and hear more about your interest in Elevate, as well as answer any questions you have about the application process.

Scheduling your interview:

Victor Cusato, our International Student Coordinator, will contact you to set up a time to call that best suits your time zone.

Questions to prepare for your Skype interview:

  • What draws you to Elevate? What about the program intrigues you most?
  • What other extracurricular activities are you involved in?
  • What real-world issue from your home community would you like to bring to Elevate?
  • Bring questions to ask us that will help inform you on what Elevate is and how to get the most out of your experience during the week!

If you are accepted into the Elevate program, the next step is to register! Here are some common additional requirements for international students to be aware of:

  • Apply for a visa from your local US embassy, state department, or consulate
  • Obtain an official document stating reason for travel from Elevate (email )
  • Book your plane tickets well in advance
  • Schedule appointment with your primary medical care provider (doctor, school nurse, etc) to sign your health forms well in advance before the registration due date.

We know international flights often have less flexible time frames for arrival and departures, and we guarantee pick up and drop off to and from Boston Logan airport for all Elevate students. However, because our staff is still in training we ask that international students schedule their flights within the time frames below:

  • Arrival to Logan Airport: No earlier than Saturday, July 14, 2018
  • Departure from Logan Airport: No later than Monday morning, July 23, 2018
