WENHAM, MA—Pick up a paintbrush. Explore journalism in the movies. Read a new author. Do some science. Perform in a production. Sharpen your professional skills.

The course sampling for Keep Learning: May-Summer Term at Gordon College is rich and open to all students, alumni, seniors and neighbors throughout the North Shore. Running May 23 through June 14, May Term’s condensed classes are uniquely designed to work around adult learners’ schedules and lifestyles. Classes are available for elective credits to traditional students, but nontraditional students interested in expanding their knowledge or trying something new may also enroll in the courses for personal enrichment.

Taught by Gordon College’s renowned faculty on the Wenham campus (Exit 17 off Route 128N), May Term courses include a wide range of subjects. Art classes include Life Drawing and Introduction to Painting while students interested in communication arts or English classes may choose from unconventional courses such as Journalism in the Movies or Science and Literature. Professionals may be interested in refining management skills or their use of Excel for business applications. A range of science courses are also being offered, such as Chemistry; Human Biology; Health and Disease, and Developmental Psychology.

“Keep Learning: May-Summer Term at Gordon College provides an excellent opportunity for students of all ages and backgrounds to explore their interests in a small academic community,” said Mark Sargent, provost at Gordon College. “Especially during challenging economic times, learning new things or brushing up on old skills is always exciting and beneficial.”

An array of unique new courses will be offered this year as well as Hispanic Culture in America; Mediation; and Summer Stock at Gordon—which includes presenting several small theatre productions over the course of four weeks, acting in some, working backstage in all.

Other course options include Developmental Psychology; Eastern Philosophy and Religion; Introduction to Linguistics; A Century of Ideologic Bloodshed: Europe 1914–Present; Principles of Management; Excel—Business Applications; Christian Theology.

Courses for those seeking academic credit are offered at a reduced rate from Gordon College’s usual tuition prices. For those only interested in enrichment, fees are significantly lower. Additional financial assistance is available for qualified students.
