WENHAM, MA—In January Gordon College welcomed a familiar face to a new role: 1992 graduate Adrianne Cook is back on campus as the director of alumni and parent relations.

While it’s been 18 years since Cook, a native of Saco, Maine, has been on Gordon’s campus daily, she hasn’t left education since graduating. Utilizing her education major and sociology minor, Cook spent seven years as the director of children’s education at Mount Hope Christian School in Burlington, Massachusetts, and five years as the director of alumni relations and development events at Lexington Christian Academy in Lexington, Massachusetts.

“I have a passion for working for Christian schools, and an even greater one for Gordon because it’s the place where my passions came alive and my personal faith journey became my own,” said Cook. “At Gordon I discovered my love of event planning through the ministries I served in, residence life and missions.

According to Vice President of Development Sandy Butters, Cook’s primary role will be building bridges between alumni and the current Gordon community through events, conversations and written communication. “Adrianne has a genuine love of people and a passion for Gordon College,” said Butters. “I know she will serve our alumni well.”

Cook is familiar with Gordon’s Alumni Office. After graduating from Gordon, she served as a member of the Alumni Board for six years. “During my time on the Alumni Board I was able to hear the perspectives of many alumni, which is especially helpful in my role now,” said Cook.

Some of Cook’s most immediate efforts will go into building alumni connections for specific interest groups on campus, connecting faculty with alumni and informing current students of what it means to be an alumnus/a and how they can actively participate in that role through the STAT (Students Today Alumni Tomorrow) initiative.

“There is such a broad network of people that make up the Gordon community, past and present,” said Cook. “It’s my goal to create a comprehensive global network that is mutually beneficial to all.”
